RESPONSE STATISTICS

2025 Incidents

Definitions

Landing Zone - Fire departments can be tasked with establishing and securing a safe area for a medical helicopter to land and receive a critically ill or injured patient. We primarily work with two different services in the area: AHN LifeFlight (white and green helicopters) and UPMC Stat MedEvac (black and gold helicopters)

AED Response - The fire department responds to high priority medical emergencies with personnel trained in CPR and AED. These emergencies include cardiac arrest, unconscious, difficulty breathing, chest pain with difficulty breathing, and if someone had passed out or is in an altered level of consciousness.

EMS Assist - EMS crews may request assistance from the fire department for extra personnel for lifting, extrication, adverse conditions, or extended response times.

MVC w/ Entrapment - Vehicle crash where the occupants are unable to exit the vehicle on their own. This is where "the jaws of life" can be used. This takes training and skills to be able to safely and quickly remove a person from a crashed vehicle. New technology with safer vehicles and electric vehicles continues to pose a tremendous challenge in these incidents.

Station Fill - A unit can be requested to relocated to another fire station or a centrally located position to cover another fire department's jurisdiction while they are out at another incident.
