This past Wednesday a young man was working on a house in when he was injured in an accident. He sustained life threatening injuries to his arm while severing several arteries and veins. He was brought to Station 17 while others called 911 seeking assistance from our firefighters. Chief Ribniscky and other volunteers were able to control the bleeding with a tourniquet and direct pressure on the wound. The man was then transported by Rostraver/West Newton EMS to a local trauma center. The quick actions of our volunteers likely saved this young mans life.
